MOONS is new multi-object optical and near-IR spectrograph due to be installed at the VLT in 2021. MOONS will have ~ 1000 deployable fibers over a FoV of 500 square arcmin and provide low to medium resolution spectra over the wavelength range 0.6 to 1.8 μm. I’m a member of the MOONS GTO team and am currently participating in planning the extragalactic guaranteed time observations.
